
Kiran Bhagwanani has joined Datacraft Asia as Regional Director, India - a newly created senior role. He is also the CEO of Datacraft India. With over two decades of experience in the Indian IT market, Kiran brings proven IT Industry, General Management and Organisation Transformation capabilities.
Kiran’s primary responsibility will be to drive growth in the India market. In addition, he will also steward Datacraft’s recently announced investments in the Hosted and Cloud Services Business within the country.
EMC Corporation has named Tom Heiser, a 26 year veteran of EMC, as president of RSA, the Security Division of EMC. Most recently RSA’s Chief Operating Officer, Heiser will continue day-to-day leadership of the division while advancing the company’s position as the premier provider of security, compliance and risk management solutions. Art Coviello will continue to drive RSA’s strategic initiatives as Executive Chairman of RSA and will lead EMC’s trusted cloud initiatives as Executive Vice President of EMC. Heiser will continue to report to Coviello.
Heiser joined EMC in 1984 as a sales trainee and rose to increasingly senior sales and business management positions. During his twenty plus year career with the company he has played a key role in EMC’s evolution into a broad-based information infrastructure leader, including being directly involved in the formation of EMC’s Cloud Infrastructure and Services Division. He also served as EMC’s Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and New Ventures, leading the team responsible for Mergers & Acquisitions and New Business Development. Heiser becomes only the fourth person to lead the RSA business since the founding of the original RSA Data Security in 1982.
As Executive Chairman of RSA, Coviello will continue to drive strategy for the division and be an active and visible presence at RSA and across EMC’s businesses. A well-known industry evangelist, Coviello joined RSA in 1995 as Chief Operating Officer, became President in 1999 then CEO in 2001 and has been a driving force in its rapid growth, increasing revenue from $25 million in 1995 to more than $700 million in 2010.
On top of this, EMC has also revealed that David Webster, currently the President of EMC Australia New Zealand (ANZ), has assumed the senior leadership role for EMC South East Asia (SEA) while continuing to lead the EMC business in ANZ.
In this new extended role, Webster will be responsible for driving the strategic growth and operational performance across both the ANZ and SEA regions.
Webster will oversee all EMC ANZ and SEA business functions, amongst which includes development of leadership talent, programs for enhancing relationships with customers and partners, and supporting EMC’s ongoing effort in accelerating our customers’ journey to the private cloud.
Each of the ANZ and SEA regions will continue to have its own management team under a common direction and executive leadership of David Webster.
Webster's impressive career spans over 20 years in the information technology industry across Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific. Webster was based in Singapore covering hardware, software and services in a previous leadership role for Silicon Graphics, covering Singapore and SEA. His track record of hiring and developing local talent, establishing distributor and partner channels in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia has given him solid working knowledge of these key growth areas vital for EMC's long-term success in Asia Pacific.
Based in Sydney, Webster will continue reporting directly to Steve Leonard, President, EMC Asia Pacific & Japan.
Quest Software has announced the appointment of Barrie Sheers as vice president and general manager of its Asia-Pacific Japan (APAC-J) region. Sheers will be based in Quest’s Singapore office.
Sheers comes to Quest with more than 25 years of sales and general management experience. His career highlights include leadership of Asia Pacific operations for Sybase, in addition to executive-level sales and marketing positions at EMC, where he spent seven years leading multiple successful launches of many technology solutions to APAC-J customers.
Ravi Saxena is now regional director for Brocade’s Service Provider business in Asia Pacific (APAC). Saxena will be based in Singapore and will be responsible for driving the company’s service provider growth and market-penetration strategies throughout the region. Saxena will work closely with the regional field leadership, marketing and product management teams to devise and execute on a go-to-market strategy for this business segment. Saxena was most recently vice president of Service Provider Business Development with Cisco Systems India, where he led a team of worldwide resources in addressing large opportunities across the mobility, video and managed services segments in emerging markets, including India. Prior to this role, he served as vice president of SP at Cisco Systems India.
In addition, Brocade has named Edgar Dias as regional director of Enterprise Business for Asia Pacific (APAC). Dias will be based in Singapore and will lead the company’s enterprise strategy and manage its direct-touch sales force.
A key charter for Dias will be to develop and execute strategies, programs designed to grow Brocade’s business of its enterprise networking portfolio in APAC across a number of Enterprise verticals specifically Government, Media and Entertainment, High Performance Computing, Education and Healthcare. Industry research firm IDC predicts that the enterprise networking market in APAC will be about US$10.6 billion in 2011 growing to more than US$13.5 billion by 2014.(1)
Prior to joining Brocade, Dias served as sales director at Juniper Networks where he was responsible for its Campus and Data Center businesses. Before that, Dias spent 10 years at Nortel Networkswhere he was responsible for sales of its data communications product portfolio across Asia, Middle East and Africa.
At the same time, Brocade has also announced the promotion of Charlie Foo to senior director for APAC Partner Business Group.
Foo joined Brocade in 2007 as director for the Partner Business Group responsible for driving Brocade's regional growth and diversification strategy through its business partner network.
Through his leadership and strategic acumen, the Brocade’s business in Asia Pacific grew significantly at a rate that is above the industry average. Foo also instituted a top class Channel and OEM sales organization responsible for driving the growth and market share objectives.
In addition to consolidating Brocade's SAN leadership in the region, Foo will continue to reinforce the strategic framework and regional execution of Brocade's Ethernet business. This will be accomplished through its extensive network of value-added partners and Alliance Partner Network (APN) initiative.
Mobile data provider, Acision, has appointed Chris Jenkins to the position of Executive Vice President and Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region. Based in Singapore, Jenkins will play a lead role in driving business growth for the Asia Pacific including the Japanese markets.
Prior to his appointment to the region, he was the executive vice president of Acision’s Mobile Data Charging Business Unit, and CMO for the company, where he led corporate marketing, the market development activities and helped deliver innovative charging solutions to the global mobile operator market.
With experience in the retail and technology sectors spanning 25 years, Jenkins has a wealth of experience in merger & acquisitions, marketing and developing growth markets. Chris has also held leadership positions with Openwave, Bytemobile and Ericsson.
